SUMMARY:Le Phonographique aka The Phono 90s Special
DESCRIPTION:After the success of our last 90’s event\, we are going to do it again on th 14th of March 2026! \nYou can expect original Phono DJs to be playing a mixture of punk\, post punk\, goth\, grunge and alternative rock with a heavy sprinkling of 90’s dance floor fillers. You can expect to hear more from bands like Green Day\, Prodigy\, Nirvana\, as well as Skunk Anansie\, and loads more. The first 100 people through the door between 1pm -1.30 pm will get a Phono “patented” drink token which will allow you to buy 2 drinks for the price of one. \nEarly bird tickets are now avaliable at £6 each \, £8 advanced tickets and £10 CASH on the door. \nWhat is Le Phonographique about? \nLe Phonographique (aka The Phono) was a dark and dingy night club formed in the bowels of the Merrion centre\,Leeds\, in 1979 and it’s regconized as the world’s first gothic nightclub! (Pre dating the back cave by 3years) The Phono was frequested by bands like The Sisters of Mercy\, The Misson\, March Violets and even The Clash played a gig there in May 1985. It soon became a safe haven for all sorts of alternative people who were seen by others as freaks\, weirdos or misfits! \nStarting in 1981 The Phono ran a Saturday afternoon drinking session. Paying homage to this Hifi Club Leeds will be opening from 1pm to 6pm. You can expect to hear a combination of punk\, post punk\, newwave\, goth\, grunge\, alternative rock and the best dance floor fillers of the 20th century.! \nSadly the original venue closed in 2006 but in 2008 previous owners of the club and former DJ’s came together to keep the spirit of the club alive! \nOriginal Le Phonographique Dj’s will be playing the tunes and it will be\, probably the most authentic retro alternative music event you will ever go to! \nThe Phono events appeal to a mixture of people ranging from the original goths\, punks and old phono-ites through to the alternative youth of today wanting to experience what the The Phono was like back in the day. We hope you join us for what should be a fun filled event
